New season, new teams, new players, welcome back to another season of Muslim Basketball! Last season we saw amazing talent week by week as the top players in the division played their hearts out trying to lead their teams to glory. These players went the extra mile for their team and without them on the court their teams would fall in shambles. The effect they have on the court can be seen through both what does and does not show up on the stat sheets; it's the little things they do that help fuel the fire of their teams. Through their leadership and great play, week in and week out, they hope to do everything in their power to elevate their teams to the next level. These aren't any ordinary players, these are MVP caliber type of players. Welcome to this week's edition of the KP MVP Ladder.

1. Daniel Goldberg, Mombasa

Tough loss in overtime to a Cordoba team that’s on a mission this season. Daniel did his thing out there finishing with 10 points going 5/5 from the field, 17 boards, and 3 blocks. It was a very intriguing game to watch and Cordoba was able to come away with the victory with a late go ahead 3 in overtime. Mombasa gets another test next week as they play Suba, I know Daniel’s going to come out and have another big game because that’s the type of skill that lands you on the MVP ladder.

Last Week’s Ranking: 1

2. Luke Jensen, Cordoba

Big man on the other side of the ball that came out with the W for his team, Luke has been having a great season. He finished with 12 points and 10 boards this week, he’s had a double double in every game he’s played in this season. Cordoba has proved themselves time and time again and made a big statement with this overtime win this week. They have a few more tough games this season but the way they’re playing I can see them running the table going into the playoffs. Luke, Kenneth, and co have been very impressive this season.

Last Week’s Ranking: 2

3. Mujtaba John S, Jakarta

Mujtaba plays, Jakarta wins. Jakarta has only lost once this season with Mujtaba in the lineup. The D2 and leagues all time leading scorer just keeps adding points to his resume. He finished with 25 points, 7 boards, 4 assists, and 6 steals in a win this week. One of the greatest to ever step foot on the Muslim Basketball courts just keeps finding ways to lead his team to victory.

Last Week’s Ranking: 3

4. Patrick Jaramillo, Kazan

The other impressive rookie killing it this season! The long awaited rivalry matchup between Kazan and Beirut finally took place and boy was it worth the wait. Kazan came out with an amazing win with none other than Patrick hitting the game winning 3 as time expired. He finished the game with 22 points, 9 boards, 4 assists, and 2 steals. The rookie of the year race between Patrick and Luke is going to be tough to call but man has Patrick been having a great season.

Last Week’s Ranking: 4

5. Ayman Abdelfatah, Suba

The turnaround Suba has made from last season to this season would not be possible without Ayman leading the way for this squad. He finished this week with 21 points and 14 boards. Suba has been on a tear with their lone loss this season coming to the aforementioned powerhouse known as Cordoba. Suba has a BIG time game against Mombasa next week that can potentially quiet all the haters and show the rest of the league what they’re really made of. Only time will tell!

Last Week’s Ranking: N/A

About time Aymen gets up there, Suba’s been killing it this season & he’s a clear reason as to why.
Some other notables that I feel are lacking recognition though (only mentioning players on +.500 teams):
Omar mana & Q (one hustles on the glass every possession, the other’s the clutchest in the league)
Shabazz (best player-coach out there)
Now other than on my team lol:
Kenny Ziem- has also been killing it this season. Didn’t really understand why he was taken off the list in the first place, averages almost the same in every category as his teammate Luke other than a -3 in rpg. You’ll only realize his value on the team when you play them.
Sadat safi- once again, the Chris Paul of our league. When he’s not getting buckets, he’s dropping dimes. & they’re not ordinary assists, they’re passes that cause you to wonder how he got them through, almost each & every play. Huge asset to Mombasas success.
Jon Dejesus- also no idea why he was taken off. 23 ppg on 46% from the field... AND 6 rebounds & 3 assists per game? Disgusting, dude is a complete player, & of the best the leagues seen- if not the best. This is all excluding the fact that lahore’s a winning team 😐 (Herb Henry also deserves a lot of credit)
Mo Amin- had Tehran not been blown out by Mecca to open the season, he easily would’ve been mentioned on here a handful of times. When you’re the leading rebounder & scorer on your team shooting above 50% from the field, & a key factor behind your team being 3rd in points allowed... you’ve done your job as a big man.
Non-detailed notables:
Billal Abbassi- leading a championship contending team in points, assists and steals. I think big O, though arguably the leagues best big, has been getting a little too much credit for Islamabad’s successes.
Frank Ozoria
Nick Marquez

Difficult to narrow it down to five lol, but just felt like giving credit where it’s due. Can’t wait to see how the season goes down.

Great points Ayood! Lot's of talent in this league and it's hard to narrow it down to just a few players. The league is very well balanced this season and any of the top half of the teams can win it in my opinion.

One name I haven't seen on the list that should be in consideration is Zain Abdeen. He's averaging 15 and 13, shooting over .500 but more importantly does a great job of controlling the tempo and setting his teammates up for good shots.

Thanks & great point. He got his credit last week, & I really wanted to mention him here but his teams below .500 lol. Incredible player though. & surely a lot of talent throughout the league.

Again, can’t wait to see who it comes down to!
