KP MVP LADDER sponsored by our friends at KABAB PARADISEThe MVP ladder provides a realtime update of the MVP race. These players went the extra mile for their team and without them on the court their teams would fall in shambles. Some have even played through injuries to keep their teams flowing. The effect they have on the court can be seen through both what does and does not show up on the stat sheets; it's the little things they do that help fuel the fire of their teams. Through their leadership and great play, week in and week out, they hope to do everything in their power to elevate their teams to the next level. These aren't any ordinary players, these are MVP caliber type of players. Welcome to this week's edition of the KP MVP Ladder. 1. Mohamed Amin, Sana'aThe MVP runner up from last season is already making his case for why he should be this season's MVP after coming up just short last season. Sana'a bullied Delhi this week led by an MVP caliber effort from Mohamed Amin who finished with 29 points on 11/15 shooting, 8 boards, and 4 assists. He's on a mission this season; his team came up just shy of the finals losing in the semis and they know they're capable of going all the way. With efforts like this and from help from the surrounding cast that goal can come into fruition. I expect Mohamed Amin to stay in the top 5 all season long as he did last season regardless of the number of players that were added because of the new influx of teams. 2. Rameez Khizer, SarajevoSpeaking of the new influx of teams and players this season, would you look at this guy? Rookie season, Muslim Basketball debut and he fools around and gets himself a nice double double finishing with a week 1 high of 32 points on 12/24 shooting from the field and 10 boards. Unfortunately, this all came in a losing effort against a fan favorite Beirut team that's back after a season hiatus. Still haven't seen much of him since this was his only game thus far but man if he can put up these types of numbers on a weekly basis Sarajevo's in good hands. 3. Bernie Pimental, AlexandriaThe rookies are making a name for themselves this week with Alexandria's high octane offense adding another piece this offseason in rookie Bernie Pimental. Again, limited sample having only seen one game but watching the way he was able to score this week was impressive. If he's able to keep scoring at will like he did this season, this might be the missing piece Alexandria needs to get them over the hump and get them that much closer to the promise land. 4. Abdul Mutaleb Popal, PalermoHe's back and it's like he never missed a step. His team came out on the losing end of things after getting to a hot start but man was he fun to watch play this week. He finished with 30 points on 50% shooting from the field, 7 boards, and 2 assists. He's not on the strongest team this season so look for him to do everything in his power to lead his team in any way possible. This guy's going to do special things this season, keep an eye out for him. 5. Omar Abbassi, IslamabadThe D1 stud joined forces with his family this offseason and had himself a nice game to start the season off. He finished with 12 points, 11 boards, and 5 assists in a winning effort this week. This guy can ball and there's a reason why he's won a championship before. His vocal leadership combined with his great skill set will take Islamabad far this season. With Omar leading the charge, no one will want to see this team in the playoffs. Next Five Up: Mujtababa John S, Jakarta; Omar Qasem, Granada; Jaber Jaber, Mecca; Hosam Karkis, Damascus; Nick Marquez, Beirut Next Up? Jonathan Mingo Jr.: A Muslim Basketball veteran. Jonathan Mingo Jr. is back after a one season hiatus. Look out for this dude, he's put up some ridiculous numbers in the past and is absolutely capable of being the league MVP. His team started off on the right track this season winning this week with valiant efforts from Nick Marquez and himself. He's done it before, he's taken a team all the way to the promise land and walked off into the sunshine winning his first championship not too long ago. Do not sleep on Jonathan Mingo Jr. Edited by user Saturday, July 15, 2017 6:19:56 PM(UTC)
