Week 7 6-1 4

A strong win to get them back on track, with Moumtaz leading the way with 11 points and Salihoun having 12 rebounds. I think this win shows me the strengths of this squad. That being that they can outpace anyone on the court. Their press is unmatched and they turn lazy passes into easy points. This is the first time they aren’t a #1 seed, so I’m sure they’ll be giving their bracket problems.

Week 6 5-1 4

The real win here is not having to spend money on tolls to get to the game.

Week 5 4-1 3

This is their first on-court loss in almost a whole year, and I can imagine it stings. They were outplayed, and came out flat against a tough Qibya side. They just had no rhythm this week. Moumtaz led the way with 17 points while Mountaka had 11 of his own. I think they’ll bounce back, but I’ve heard people saying that this Yazur squad is weaker than previous seasons. We’ll have to see.

Week 4 4-0 1

They had an easy matchup, which obviously means Yazur took care of business. Four players stood in the double digits—Moumtaz  had 26 points, while Alhassna threw in 19. Mountaka and Salihoun each had 15 points. It’s also a great Saturday when you shoot 51% as a team.

Week 3 3-0 1

In possibly the most anticipated game of the year, Yazur didn’t let down one bit. Salihoun continues to show why he’s a top five player in the league, having 21 points and 11 rebounds. Moumtaz also helped by having 17 points. Gotta give it to Mountaka, too. 6 steals and 6 assists? He’s the ultimate team player and the heart of this team. Yazur is the standard, period.

Week 2 2-0 1

Three things are guaranteed in life—death, taxes, and Yazur blowing their opponents out. It was tied 16-16 at one point, but Yazur leads a well-oiled machine at pouncing at every pass and capitalizing on the other teams turnovers. Moumtaz led the way with 21 points while Salihoune got his first double-double of the season, going for 20 points and 10 rebounds. Mountaka added on 15 and Alhassana gave the team 14. This Yazur squad still looks like the leagues best.

Week 1 1-0 1

Picking up right where they left off (in the regular season*), with Moumtaz having a game-high 18 points on 7-11 shooting and Salihoun having 14 points on 7-12 shooting. Mountaka had a quiet night (8pts, 4 assists), but for him, the win means more, which I respect. I don’t have a read on the new guys yet, but if Mountaka brought them over, it means they’ll be turning up when the team needs it most.

Preseason 0-0 1

If they didn’t forfeit in the playoffs last season, they had a real chance to be back to back champs. Mountaka reuniting with Alassane and bringing back key pieces in Salihoun, Moumtaz, and Sadia should make them clear favorites to bringing home the chip.
