New Jersey (Central): Yazur (D2)
Power Ranking By Week | |||
WEEK | RECORD | RANK | COMMENTS |
---|---|---|---|
Week 10 | 9-1 | 1 | 5 people, 4 people, don't matter... Yazur in 4. Salihoun lit it up with an insane 43 and 20 game and Taka with the triple double. Clear favorites to win the chip going into the playoffs. |
Week 9 | 8-1 | 1 | They didn’t have their big man Surakata again this week and still got it done against Nazareth, a team people thought could take the #1 spot from Yazur. The dynamic duo of Moumtaz and Salihoun combining for 42 points on over 50% shooting. Taka with 10 boards and 9 assists again showing his invaluable leadership for this team. |
Week 8 | 7-1 | 1 | No warmup and a 13 minute first half almost made you believe that Akka stood a chance. That was quickly put to rest in the second half as they go on to blow them out by 20. Nothing much more to see here folks. |
Week 7 | 6-1 | 1 | The new look Yazur are still on top and don't plan on going anywhere any time soon. Moumtaz turned on the burners in the last 10 minutes and basically said "they can't guard me" as he splashed 7 threes. Salihoun was posting up the taller Mohamed Albana with absolute ease and made it look effortless down low. Taka with 8 assists shows why he is a top floor general in the league. |
Week 6 | 5-1 | 1 | No Alassane, No Abu, no problem. Yazur said they're still winning it all. There’s clearly no stopping this team, going against a 6 foot 8 giant in Messiah without Surakata after their roster got nerfed and still winning is impressive to say the least. Moumtaz with a cool 21 points on 9-12 shooting and Taka with 8 assists. Who will be the first team to (legitimately) beat Yazur? |
Week 5 | 4-1 | 1 | This was a one-point game a little into the second half, but Yuzur does what they do best—blow the competition out of the water. And you can tell they missed having Mountaka on the court. One thing about Yuzur is that their full-court defense and fast break offense is nearly unmatched. They don’t lose steam in all 40 minutes and no one, and I mean no one, can keep up. |
Week 4 | 3-1 | 2 | What we learned this week—this team crashes back to reality without Mountaka. I’m sure everyone was surprised by the scoreboard after the shows they put on in weeks 1 and 3. But besides that, Yazur has a defensive presence we haven’t seen before. They lead the league with 12 steals per game, not to mention that three, yes, three of their players are in the top five for that category. |
Week 3 | 2-1 | 2 | No car problems or scheduling mix ups this week and it resulted in a Yazur win. Moumtaz looking like a real bucket getter for this team, dropping a team high 24 points on 11-17 shooting. Majority of the personnel on this team could drop 20 any given week, which is what makes them scary to match up against. Let’s see if they reclaim the number 1 spot soon. |
Week 2 | 1-1 | 4 | SnowFLAKEs. |
Week 1 | 1-0 | 1 | Man oh man, Taka took that loss in the inter-league championship personal and seems to have assembled the MB version of the avengers. So much so they had to create a Yazur “B-team” to accommodate all the people they wanted to bring from the Bronx… Abu retired to the bench for most of the game just smiling watching his younger brother Surakata tear it up, putting up an easy 18 points on 7-9 shooting. Newcomer Salihoun spent all his VC on an insane finishing package around the rim, like seriously, how did he make half those shots? This team is stacked from top to bottom and is clearly the team to beat for the 2nd season in a row. These north guys don’t stand a chance… |
