Week 9 | 6-3 | 5 | Himey and Lil O have come together to form a solid squad that has deep aspirations. They finished the season 5-1 with only a loss to Baysan in a close game. They got 3 guys that can score 20 each in the same game, with Amir and Lil O being able to work off the ball. They also got a real big man in Jean and solid role players that understand who the scorers are and work hard defensively. It will be interesting to see how far this team can go, as they start their playoff run against a team they lost to early in the season. Let’s see how much this team has grown since then. |
Week 8 | 5-3 | 7 | Uh Oh Lil O could be onto something. The man formely known as Lonzo Ball is ballin’. |
Week 7 | 4-3 | 8 | How do you snap out of a shooting slump? Just strap up and knock down 9 of dem things from the great beyond. Lil O looked like a man on a mission with a season 35 points. Mustafa Abbassi was the second leading scorer for Al-Quds with 24 points on 6-11 from 3 and Amir had 16 of his own. I don’t foresee their big 3 scoring 75 points in a game again but hey it was a heck of a performance. |
Week 6 | 3-3 | 10 | Still not proven. |
Week 5 | 3-2 | 5 | After some friendly banter was exchanged on the MB Podcast between hosts, Lil O and Al-Quds came out victorious. Lil O led the way with a game high 19 points. Mustafa chipped in nicely with 17 of his, including 5 3PMs. Quiet game from Mr. XXL Tee, Amir C, but he did hit two timely three pointers that swung the momentum pendulum in their favor. |
Week 4 | 2-2 | 9 | Do we have a Lil O sighting??? 5-8 from tre ball? Is he back??? Maybe, but Al-Quds needed this win and they definitely made a statement out of it. I would also like to point out that Mustafa Abbassi is the greatest bad shot taker of all time. No matter how contested the shot, the form is beautiful, and you could live with the result, ala Klay Thompson. As for the rest of the whipper snippers, long sleeve Amir lasted a total of 5 minutes, and it was a rap once he made the adjustment. |
Week 3 | 1-2 | 14 | They were without Amir C and apparently Lil O has left his jump shot in one of the computer labs at NJIT. They had five players, so obviously no subs and playing on the Court 3, certainly didn’t play in their favor. I’d like to give them the benefit of the doubt this week but I simply can’t due to the level of play we saw this week across the league. And Lil O, I know you are knocking down 5-7 3’s next week. I know it. |
Week 2 | 1-1 | 12 | For starters, Lil O is really making me look bad. I crowned him the best shooter in the league and he continues to thank me with mediocre performances. C’mon O! Luckily for Al-Quds Amir Charrkas AKA Mr. XXL AKA Professional bucket getter, was able to handle his business with a team high 15. Al-Quds will need the Abbassi’s to get it rolling if they hope to contend with the league’s elite. And Woooohooooo Jean had double digit rebounds! |
Week 1 | 0-1 | 11 | How does Omar Abbassi reward me for calling him the best shooter in the league? By going 1-8…. C’mon man, that’s how people get fired! Luckily for him, that kind of thing does not happen often and should be back to himself come next week. As for the rest of the team, no one really got it going as the only person to shoot a decent percentage was Jean, going 4-6 but only grabbing three rebounds is baffling. I do expect better performances from Amir and Mustafa but as I have mentioned and probably will mention again, it’s only week 1. |
Preseason | 0-0 | 6 | This team was designed for Lil O & Mustafa Abbassi. Amir C tore the league up last season and reminded us all that he is a certified scorer. Now, he is joined by the best shooter in the league in Lil Omar Abbassi. With the supporting cast being made up of bigs who rebound and fight for second chance points. They have three legit scorers and boy they can all shoot. |
