New Jersey (North): Gaza (D2)
Power Ranking By Week | |||
WEEK | RECORD | RANK | COMMENTS |
---|---|---|---|
Week 9 | 5-4 | 8 | Coming into the playoffs, there is a long list of teams that really have a shot to go all the way, and you have to include this squad because they are definitely talented enough. I do think there is a bit of a drop off after the first 7, but it’s not much. Gaza has a true big, solid role player and 3 guys that can score at will. Mahrooz will have to be the man alongside Singer and Johnny Wiz will have to be more efficient for them to really make a run. Interesting team to watch in the playoffs. |
Week 8 | 5-3 | 6 | Mahrooz has been awaken and is on a tear these past few games. Can he continue his stellar play come playoff time??? |
Week 7 | 4-3 | 7 | Captain America, aka Singer is missing in action for this one, but it did result in a vintage game from Mahrooz. The reigning ROY had 25, 9 and 7 on 10-18 from the field. John Wiz scored 22 points on 8-16 and Moe Dirt had 21 of his own. This team has had one tough schedule and I can safely say they will be a force to be reckoned with come playoff time. |
Week 6 | 3-3 | 8 | Still not proven. |
Week 5 | 3-2 | 8 | Down double figures going into the half, this team came back strong in the second half but weren’t able to complete the comeback. Their shooting woes is what hurt them the most. John Harrison 1-11, Singer 5-16, Moe Dirt 4-13 and Mahrooz 5-14. Anytime your best 4 players don’t perform like we are accustomed to, winning basketball games are going to be difficult. And yet they lost by 5, just shows you how tough this Gaza team really is. I see better performances in their future. |
Week 4 | 3-1 | 5 | Winless no more, but they went up against one of the league's upper echelons. Although, losing by 30 does raise some concern. Mahrooz and Singer shot a combined 7-29 and have yet to look anything like themselves and Moe Dirt only attempted 6 shots. The sole bright spot was “The Chef” going 7-13 from the field for 17 points. The road doesn’t get easier for Gaza as they face Baysan next week. |
Week 3 | 3-0 | 2 | Plug n Play! That is exactly what captains Ammar and Kareem do and have been successful at over the past several years. Lose Joe Shiesty to a potential season ending injury and come in newcomer who I am sorry, I don't have the brother’s name on file yet. But for now, you will be called Plug. Plug had 22 points on 8-15 shooting to add to his 6 rebounds and 3 assists. Moe Dirty didn’t go Super Saiyan this game but still had 16 points of his own. As for the remaining two Avengers, I would like to say a more efficient outing from Singer, as we all know where he stands among the league’s PGs. We need ROTY Mahrooz back!!! |
Week 2 | 2-0 | 2 | The best offense and the best defense? Leading in both categories after week 2, Ammar and company are off to a great start. Moe Thirty was in a sharing mood as he took a backseat to Mr. Shiesty in this one. Mr. Capone led the way with 23 while Dirt and Mahrooz added 16 and 12, respectively. Doctor Singer made his debut and once he gets his superpowers back, the Avengers are going to be tuff! |
Week 1 | 1-0 | 2 | Ummmmmm Moe Thirty???? Muhammad Mustafa with a career night scoring 36 points on 10-17 from deep. Certainly, in the running for POTW, as we have a plethora of options this week. Mr. Shiesty got reacquainted with the three-point line in week 1 and shot 4-8 himself. Quiet night for last season’s ROTY but it wasn’t needed. And oh yeah, missing their star point guard Omar Singer. The Avengers are going to be lethal this season. |
Preseason | 0-0 | 2 | Ammar Mustafa gathered the Avengers for this season. Assembling Joseph Capone, Singer & Mahrooz is extremely impressive. That is a heck of a trio! Rounding out the rest of the roster are Samna, Salman and Moe Dirt. They have a plethora of scoring and size upfront. I always knew Avengers Endgame wasn’t their last act. |
