---|---|---|---|
Week 8 | 8-0 | 1 | Nothing new here folks. The lone remaining undefeated finishes the season at the top of the list and rightfully so. Young King Hassan Chaabane can add MVP to his name in only his 3rd season. 22.4 ppg, 5 rebounds and 5 assists along with almost 3 steals are MVP worthy numbers but he was not alone. Zain averaged a double-double with close to 13 and 10, Idris averaged 10ppg and Kareem added 12ppg as a very good third option on this team. This team was very well assembled and could easily be holding the trophy at the end of the season. |
Week 7 | 7-0 | 1 | Nothing has changed as far as who’s at the top. Aside from the fact that they’ve had a JV schedule, they are at least meeting expectations. All jokes aside, last night’s game was over from the opening tip. Islamabad capitalized on Cairo’s sloppy play and every turnover led to a transition basket. MVP frontrunner Hassan Chaabane with another night at the office with 26, 8 and 6 on 11-13 from the field. His dominance has overshadowed the collection of talent on this team, as we haven’t mentioned Zain as often as previous seasons. Nonetheless, they will most likely be heading into the playoffs with a donut in the L column. |
Week 6 | 6-0 | 1 | Number 1 seed, still undefeated. I think there has been a change in the frontunner for MVP. Not sure how you can argue against Hassan Chaabane at this point. 23 points, 10 rebounds 6 assists and 3 steals! Idris knocked down 4 from trifecta and s/o to Jared See who played the role of Zain and honestly looked like prime Zain out there. 13 points 15 rebounds 2 assists 7 steals and 5 blocks???? Ummm Islamabad has two prime candidates for POTW. Glad I am not responsible for making those decisions. |
Week 5 | 5-0 | 1 | If this team goes undefeated, is Hassan Chaabane worthy of MVP consideration?? 18 points 3 rebound and 4 assists on the best team in the league should garner more attention. Another stellar outing from Zain with 17 and 8, Idris knocked down some 3s. Off night from Kareem but don't expect that moving forward. |
Week 4 | 4-0 | 2 | CLAMPS! CLAMPS! CLAMPS! Hassan is arguably a top 2 on ball defender, while Zain may be the best defensive big in the league. They neutralized Omar Hussein and essentially forced anyone other than him to beat them. Their Fantastic 4 all scored in double digits, and they are playing great team basketball at the moment. If it wasn’t for Mombasa winning by 800, Islamabad would have a case for #1. |
Week 3 | 3-0 | 1 | Islamabad had this game circled on their calendar and they did not disappoint. A Hassan and Zain pick n’ roll is almost impossible to defend, Idris and Amir Abbassi help space out the court. Oh and that Kareem Ahmed guy, he showed some mercy to the rest of the league after winning POTW and scored 8 points. They have the most depth and sit at the top for now. |
Week 2 | 2-0 | 1 | It wasn’t pretty, but they got it done. Omar Mana with what seems to be his 100th career double-double. Ahmad Saleh had 12 points on 4-9 from the field and the Abbassi brothers all had a relatively quiet night for their standards. I repeat to do not get accustomed to this, because if it’s not Omar, its Billal and if it’s not Billal, its Islam and you get the point. |
Week 1 | 1-0 | 1 | WHAT. A. GAME! First lets start with the offseason acquisitions. Kareem Ahmed known for his handle and scoring capability, put his GM hat on and brought in some firepower. If you can’t beat em, join em, right? Kareem brought in the fan favorite MVP, and arguably one of the best players in the league in Hassan Chaabane. Oh, and for good measure let me bring in a walking double-double and absolute sniper in Zain and Idris, respectively. They looked very poised throughout the game and hit some clutch FT’s down the stretch to send the game into overtime, and ultimately winning the game. Kudos to |
