New Jersey (North): Suba (D2)
Power Ranking By Week | |||
WEEK | RECORD | RANK | COMMENTS |
---|---|---|---|
Week 10 | 5-5 | 16 | This isn’t the type of win they were looking for either, as a game against Palermo should have just been practice. It is rare you see a team shoot 25.8% from the field and 14.3% from 3 and still win. They have to improve those numbers drastically if they want to beat Tehran next week. Suba is the higher seed on paper, but Tehran is the favorite. |
Week 9 | 4-5 | 17 | Playing with 5, Suba just couldn’t get it going. Tac shot 1-11 from 3. Zach was a bright spot scoring 20, and shooting 4-6 from 3. The once scary Suba squad is on the verge of ending the season under .500. I think they win next week against Palermo, though, and end 5-5. |
Week 8 | 4-4 | 17 | This was the toughest choice, because a 22 point victory to a competitive Sana’a squad definitely should move you up a couple of spots in the rankings, but who am I going to move down? Fez just beat a more competitive team in Kabul, and the rest of the teams I just don’t see them being beaten by Suba. With that being said, I hope Suba proves me wrong in the playoffs and goes back to the dominant team we all know. A win against Lahore next week will certainly move them up a couple of notches. |
Week 7 | 3-4 | 17 | Suba handled business without their star player. Rookie Zach Franklin scored a season high 29 points. Suba played a clean game, with Mecca only getting 5 free throw attempts, while they took 15. They made the best out of it too, shooting 13-15 (86.7%) from the line. That was the key to their victory, being that they didn’t shoot as well as Mecca did. Next week they look to get back to .500 as they take on a very hot Sana’a squad. |
Week 6 | 2-4 | 19 | It is actually relieving to see Suba come up with the victory against a very strong Islamabad squad. Aytac finally got some help, and it mostly came from his long time teammate, Sasa. Sasa shot 5-7 from behind the arc, and ended with 16. Suba deserves to be considered a threat again, and this is how it gets started. |
Week 5 | 1-4 | 20 | It is not often we don’t see one player on the team hit double digits. We are coming off a week where a team had six players in double digits. Not one person on this team had the hot hand. In fact, all of their hands must’ve been in the freezer before this game. The team shot 12-51 (23.5%) from the field and 5-33 (15.2%) from behind the arc, and also added 16 turnovers. This might be the beginning of the end for the once great Suba squad. |
Week 4 | 1-3 | 19 | At least Tac had some help this game, but even with Zach contributing, they couldn’t get the W against Timbuktu. I don’t think Suba has ever been this low on the rankings. Tac would be a perennial all-star in MB if we consistently had an all-star game, but just like Booker, that doesn’t automatically convert to his team being successful. He needs to start thinking about what he is going to do next season sooner than later. |
Week 3 | 1-2 | 17 | Aytac was able to do it by himself against Delhi, but how far is one man going to take you? I guess we will find out. |
Week 2 | 0-2 | 18 | Tough loss for Aytac and gang. I heard he had a good look on a possible game-winning 3. When was the last time Suba was 0-2? Forget about not having wins, when was the last time Suba had more than 2 losses in a regular season? Answer: Summer 2017. Can they win out? |
Week 1 | 0-1 | 14 | Very bad loss for the normally dominant Suba team. Without Aytac, their defense fell short, allowing 66 points to Kashgar. Zach has to be more efficient. |
Preseason | 0-0 | 8 | Will Rameez be able to fill Aymen’s large shoes? Aytac and team look for revenge after their early playoff knockout last season. |
