New Jersey (North): Palermo (D2)
Power Ranking By Week | |||
WEEK | RECORD | RANK | COMMENTS |
---|---|---|---|
Week 9 | 7-2 | 1 | Abdul was held to 2 points in the first half, but exploded for 22 in the second. This isn’t new for AMP, but when other players on the team are hitting, like Yaqob and Shahzaib, that is when this team gets scary. They are 1st in the league in scoring and FG percentage, and have a very winnable game against Tehran coming up next week to close out the regular season. |
Week 8 | 6-2 | 1 | Having Palermo at #1 may be surprising to some, but they has been putting on a scoring clinic on teams. With only 2 losses to respectable teams, they are currently on a 6 game winning streak, and with the last two games being against under .500 teams, there is a high chance they end the regular season 8-2 with the highest point differential. |
Week 5 | 3-2 | 10 | I said it from the start, when Abdul is hot, combined with what Yaqob and Bilal and do, this team will score. They will score a lot. This group is very capable of sustaining that 67ppg average. The only matter in question is their level of consistency. Will they score 65-70 points, or between 50 and 90? |
Week 2 | 0-2 | 19 | Really expected to see some more offense out of this group. No AMP, but for Yaqoob and Bilal to only combine for 18, that’s a bit underwhelming. I thought that without Abdul, they’d be able to share the ball, get good looks, and not rely on Abdul’s individual scoring ability. No shame in losing to a Mujtaba lead team, but I’m uncomfortable with how much they struggled to get anything going. |
Week 1 | 0-1 | 18 | This team will go as far as Popal does. The more efficient he is, the better their results will be. Very tough to win a game when your best scorer goes 5-25 and misses all 8 three point attempts. |
Preseason | 0-0 | 17 | Abdul’s been lighting it up the last three seasons. Defenses try to zero in on him as much as they can, but if you’re leaving Bilal Ghous and Yaqob to send extra defenders at him, good luck. This team is going to put up points, hopefully they find a way to do so efficiently. |
