WEEK | RECORD | RANK | COMMENTS |
---|---|---|---|
Week 9 | 8-1 | 2 | A very well rounded team that can put up points easily and quickly. They’ve score 60+ in every game except their one loss to, ya you guessed it, Suba. Idris has been unbelievable for them and Zain has been tremendous as well. They can score in so many different ways, this team will be a very tough out against anyone. |
Week 6 | 6-0 | 1 | *Celebrity PR Segment By Contributor Idris Abdul Salam* Most valuable team. I love my team; anyone can step up any given week. Unselfish, position-less basketball. Play a tough Riyadh team this week. (disclaimer: Ed made me rank Islamabad #1 lol) |
Week 5 | 5-0 | 1 | The Zain pickup was big, but adding Idris was also significantly important. Islamabad never had the guy that could effective play off Biggz and whoever the Islamabad big man is (formerly Big O and now Zain). Islam and Fursan are solid pieces, but they don’t have the knock down ability Idris has shown. He shoots with no hesitation, and does so at an unbelievably high percentage. 65% from the field, 60% from deep. Islamabad hasn’t had that caliber of shooter and it’s really making a real difference. Bilal draws so much attention, Zain clogs the paint, and Idris is the one ultimately putting the ball in the basket, taking what the defense is willing to concede. I’m not too sure what the defensive adjustment is - bigs have to stay on Zain, he’s shown he’s lethal from anywhere and very crafty when he gets under the rim. Bilal can do so much |
Week 4 | 4-0 | 1 | Man did the top of the standings fall on its head this week. Gotta give Islamabad the top spot. Undefeated and have wins against a couple solid squads. They have a couple good opponents coming up, they’ll have a chance to prove themselves worthy of the top spot. |
Week 3 | 3-0 | 4 | Really balanced and team oriented offensive attack. Big time shooting performance from Idris who lead the way with 18 on 6 made 3s. Underwhelming stat line from Zain, who actually impacted the game FAR more than what the stats tell. He did a great job competing with Pete Brown on the defensive glass, made every post up attempt difficult, and kept Pete from clearing out the lane - really terrific effort that can’t be captured fully by the stats. Islamabad played a great game, my only concern is if they can play better. They beat a shorthanded Mombasa team that really comes to play in the playoffs. I’m not sure if I love this team against the rest of the top 3, but they have three convincing wins and are worthy of a top 4 spot. |
Week 2 | 2-0 | 5 | The loss of Big O has been overshadowed by Zain’s solid play thus far. They handled what should be a pretty good Mecca team with ease last week. Biggz has started the season off hot - he’s got to be the engine. He is by far the most consistent of his brothers and has the most diverse game. If this team looks to finally get their elusive championship, Bilal will have to be the guy that leads them. Look for him to have an MVP caliber season. |
