New Jersey (North): Mombasa (D2)

WEEK | RECORD | RANK | COMMENTS |
---|---|---|---|
Week 9 | 7-2 | 5 | When the full squad is together and Pete is in it, they’re darn near impossible to beat. Don’t be surprised if this team makes a significant run. Also, don’t be surprised by a major let down. They were in a dog fight with a very shorthanded Granada team (Mombasa was also without Pete), but I wouldn’t be surprised if Granda took that game with both teams at full strength. Obviously we’re talking hypotheticals - what we do know if that this group has the championship experience, has a tremendous big man, and has a significant X factor in Mo Masri who can end lives with his ability to knock down deep jumpers. |
Week 6 | 5-1 | 2 | Defeated a 4-man Riyadh team handily. They are firing on all cylinders. Great balance to their team, nice blend of big men, shooters and slashers (don’t get me wrong). Watch out for them. |
Week 5 | 4-1 | 2 | Pete doesn’t even look like he breaks a sweat out there. Probably the most effortless 21-17 game there can be. Add five 3s from Mo Masri and the inside out game is unbelievable. Raza didn’t play a great game and they still managed to beat one of the better teams in the league. You know they’ll bring it when it matters most - my money is on these guys for now. |
Week 4 | 3-1 | 6 | A full Mombasa team may not lose another one this season. Hopefully they bless the fans and bring a full squad to take on Kabul. Should be a great one. |
Week 3 | 2-1 | 5 | Slight pass because no Raza, very slight pass. Pete’s been a monster thus far and he looks like he’s going to produce more and more as the weeks progress. |
Week 2 | 2-0 | 2 | Weiss put together another very good team. Lost Goldberg, but looks like Pete Brown is filling the void (probably even outplaying Mombasa’s former center). Mo Masri also returns and rejoins Raza in the backcourt. The tandem has been very solid for the first two weeks of the season, if they can maintain this level of play, Pete continues to be dominant down low, Mombasa will be force to be reckoned with. |
