New Jersey (North): Mecca (D2)
Power Ranking By Week | |||
WEEK | RECORD | RANK | COMMENTS |
---|---|---|---|
Week 9 | 5-4 | 13 | Ah Ed you don’t pay the stat guys enough to just give you the triple double, you gotta go get it. |
Week 8 | 4-4 | 17 | Lucky for them, Baghdad is destined to lose every game by less than 5. |
Week 7 | 3-4 | 16 | Looked straight up flat. |
Week 6 | 3-3 | 13 | The rest of the league would like to thank Mecca for allowing Dhaka to return to form. |
Week 5 | 3-2 | 13 | Ed + Jaber + Adam Froogh = W |
Week 4 | 2-2 | 16 | Besides losing to Cordoba, Mecca may have lost Obada and Malik to season ending injuries. Two guys who have significant value to their team, but at the same time 10-15 extra shots for Ed and Jaber may not be the end of the world. Never want to see anyone injured, but there could be some sort of a silver lining for the rest of the group. Jaber has shown that he has the ability to turn up when he feels like it, Ed has shown that he has extremely short memory and they light is always green. |
Week 3 | 2-1 | 11 | Never in my life did I believe a Edriss Froogh team could score 39 and win, but Timbuktu’s offense was so bad, they proved me wrong. According to Jaber, he is the best player in the league, so someone please give them the trophy like, right now. |
Week 2 | 1-1 | 11 | Didn’t want to knock them down this far, but the teams that jumped them played much, MUCH better than Mecca did this week. I don’t know if perhaps the smaller court takes away the ability to spread and shoot, but at the same time, they look a bit too old to want to play of the bigger court. Lahore had much more energy than them, running their offense and getting back defensively while Mecca just looked flat out slow. I think they have a terrific shooting team, but their bigs are not the best movers, and Malik seems like the only guy with enough energy to run all game. |
Week 1 | 1-0 | 6 | I like what they’ve done with the addition of Ed. Jaber is a tremendous point guard who can facilitate and score, Malik is best when other guys are taking up the attention, and Ammar, Obada, and Hamza make a pretty solid front court. They are definitely a team that likes to run and gun, my main concern is how do they win games when they cannot hit shots. I don’t know if they have that second gear defensively, but I also don’t know if they’ll ever really have to play much defense. They held Tehran to 28 points, but I think it would be fair to say that Tehran held themselves to 28 points. |
