New Jersey (North): Fez (D2)
Power Ranking By Week | |||
WEEK | RECORD | RANK | COMMENTS |
---|---|---|---|
Week 10 | 4-6 | 14 | There’s no ‘d’ in ‘Fez’ or ‘Morocco’, which may be the only explanation to the 57.3 points per game they surrendered this season. I know Ed was hoping for a better season than this, but unfortunately the only thing worse than their win percentage was his shooting percentage. I don’t see how they can knock off Sana’a, but hopefully they make it competitive. |
Week 9 | 3-6 | 15 | Against four guys? Lucky they had Jason “Brett Favre” Weiss or else this would’ve been much worse. |
Week 8 | 3-5 | 15 | I would say Ed had a terrific game, but when you take 17 shots from behind the ark and only end up with 20 points, that’s pretty underwhelming. |
Week 7 | 3-4 | 12 | Looks like Ed is finally heating up. The commish got his team their third win of the year while flirting with a triple double. They have an easier than average schedule, with 2 games they should win, giving them at least a 5-5 record. They’re not a team I would want to see in the playoffs because Jason Weiss can play with any big in this league and Ed looks like he is just getting started. |
Week 6 | 2-4 | 14 | Won by forfeit. Other than somehow beating Jakarta (still do not understand how), they have been run off the court in 3 of their first 5 games. Lucky for them, Baghdad did not show up, so they were able to get a win without having to actually play the game. |
Week 5 | 1-4 | 14 | If it wasn’t for Jason Weiss, this game would’ve been very, very ugly. Ed struggled from all over the floor and no one else had any contribution to speak of. Lucky for them they take on Baghdad, a game they can win. |
Week 4 | 1-3 | 15 | They got 99 problems and not having Ed was one…that did not remotely change the outcome of this game. With or without Ed, they just struggled to defend the perimeter. Jason Weiss did his thing down low, but it is difficult to win games when your opponents hit 8 more threes and 13 more baskets than you from the field. It may also be impossible to succumb 15+ point games to four different players. That is not a recipe for success, regardless of who is on the floor. Kazan will really challenge this team next week – hopefully Ed is healthy so they can put their best foot forward. |
Week 3 | 1-2 | 14 | Will say this once more for another team, but I just don’t know how this team won. Jakarta looked better with the eye test, Jakarta looks better on the box score. Ed had 15, but shot under 25% from the field. Jason had a solid game, but it didn’t pop out. Great for them to get this win, but this seemed more like a Jakarta dud then a Fez victory. Still, they got their first game and showed that you cannot sleepwalk through this team. |
Week 2 | 0-2 | 16 | Jason Weiss showed he still has it, posting 17 points and 10 rebounds in his season debut. Ed added 12, but not much else for a Fez squad that proved they were not up to the task of playing with a terrific Mombasa team. Exceptional first half was followed with a second half that Fez would like to forget. Mombasa made a run that erased all chances of an upset, overwhelming Fez and outscoring them by 28. Fez has a somewhat favorable matchup with Jakarta next week – both teams struggle to score so an explosion from Ed could allow them to pull off the upset. This game features two of the most fundamentally sound big men in Jason Weiss and Shareef Omar – look for them to show off some terrific footwork, that may be the only watchable part of this game. |
Week 1 | 0-1 | 16 | Captain Ed was not able to attend, but I doubt he would have been able cover up his teams faults. They struggled to get anything going on offense as they were held to the second lowest point total of any team in week 1. Ed’s squad will take on Mombasa in a battle of brothers. Ed might have a bigger impact than his brother Weiss in this matchup, but he will need plenty of help to take down a hungry Mombasa team. |
Preseason | 0-0 | 13 |
Yet another D1 captain searching for the fountain of youth has made his way down to D2. A lot of uncertainty around this team, but you can bet that Ed will knock down shots. They are the oldest team in the league and will need all ten guys to contribute if they are looking to make a run. |
