New Jersey (North): Granada (D2)
Power Ranking By Week | |||
WEEK | RECORD | RANK | COMMENTS |
---|---|---|---|
Week 9 | 5-4 | 5 | Their victory over Mecca is definitely an eye-opener after seemingly falling out of favor in the Power Rankings. The revitalized group has repositioned itself as a possible contender with Yousef Zaki back in the mix. Not to be overlooked is Muhanad Deeb - his style of play is built for a matchup against Istanbul. |
Week 8 | 4-4 | 5 | George Kabanjian has missed the last two games, otherwise this team woulda/coulda/shoulda been 6-2. They certainly could've used his heady playmaking and ballhandling skills on Saturday in a game where Granada turned it over 21 times en route to a monumental collapse to Kabul. |
Week 7 | 4-3 | 4 | The young squad has now lost 3 in a row after starting the season 4-0. I can make excuses for them in all 3 games, but if they want to really impress, I want to see them end the season 6-3 (with a win over Mecca in Week 9). |
Week 6 | 4-2 | 4 | Two close losses in back-to-back weeks has one wondering if these guys are contenders or pretenders. They beat up on the bottom feeders the first four weeks. They need to finish 2-1 in these last 3 games to be considered a serious playoff threat. |
Week 5 | 4-1 | 3 | A commendable effort versus Mombasa, and I'm a believer in this team to make some noise in the playoffs. |
Week 4 | 4-0 | 4 | A superb/surprising start to the season - let's see if they can keep it up with a much harder schedule coming up. |
Week 3 | 3-0 | 5 | Easy win |
Week 2 | 2-0 | 5 | Gritted out a win against Sana'a. That's back to back weeks of blowing leads, then winning the game on the last shot. |
Week 1 | 1-0 | 5 | Blew a huge 19-2 lead to start the game, only to win on a miraculous halfcourt heave by Omar Qasem at the overtime buzzer. |
Preseason | 0-0 | 7 | They picked up Hosam Karkis who guested a few games from Cairo last season. |
