First and foremost, congrats to Mo Masri on breaking the MB record for 3points in a game. In the words of Towfeek from the MB podcast, “some of yall can’t make 13 threes during a shootaround at the park, wide open”. I think that’s what he said. Regardless, he was deadeye. Oh, and that Pete Brown fellow, 24 points, 13 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 steals. Mombasa FTW.

CLAMPS! CLAMPS! CLAMPS! Hassan is arguably a top 2 on ball defender, while Zain may be the best defensive big in the league. They neutralized Omar Hussein and essentially forced anyone other than him to beat them. Their Fantastic 4 all scored in double digits, and they are playing great team basketball at the moment. If it wasn’t for Mombasa winning by 800, Islamabad would have a case for #1.

This team is 3-1 and Big Moose is the 3rd leading scorer. WHAT?!?!?!? Jay Wiggins and Wajdi have been ballin’ out of their mind and if it wasn’t for a controversial ending week 1, they would be atop the rankings. Top 3 among all teams in scoring and assists per game and they have a struggling Granada team up next.

Biggz returned and showed out. The better of the Abbassi brothers hit 4 3’s while the other had 3 assists and 3 steals. Jokes aside great game from the Billal and Lil O and can’t leave out Mana with the 18 points and 10 rebounds. This team is built for a long playoff run and has a very favorable schedule moving forward.

So on the Pod, Mr. Bucket Khan was not in attendance and rumors has it, that he was in the gym preparing to light up Palermo. 24 points on 50% shooting, looks like it worked. The Yousuf brothers came back down to earth but still had respectable performances. They should win 3 out of their next 4 games and head into the playoffs with great seeding.

35 and 19, at age 55 is incredible. What is even more incredible is the fact that the man does not slow down. Barak Allah! Farhad is another level right now and he showcased why he is one of the GOATS of MB. Tom and Allen each chipped in with 11 and 12, respectively and they outrebounded Granada by 9. After starting the season 0-2, Kabul is primed for a strong second half.

No Yo SHAH, NO PROBLEM! Ali Hassan at your service. Cool 25 points on not the great efficiency but it got the job done. Sal added 14 of his own and Raied turned back the clock with 14 points and 12 rebounds. AND YAY JEAN BROUGHT DOWN 12 REBOUNDS! Once they get Yo shah back, they are a top 5 team.

Not having MJ hurt them in Week 4 but Jake scoring 30 points on great efficiency is a bright spot. Alexandria won the rebound battle and forced Mecca into tough shots. It’s also difficult to win a game without any subs. That’s two L’s in a row for Mecca. Number 3 is very close.

Coach Towfeek must be sick to his stomach after this one. Shafic was neutralized this game but J & J both did their thing to keep the game tight. Amir Hassan showed up and 10 points with 7 rebounds. If only they had a combo guard with elite playmaking and filthy midrange game. Oh well, maybe next year. Nonetheless, Palermo is still a contender based on their collection of scorers alone.

Just when I began to compliment them and say this team has looked great, they let me down. Now, this is the 2nd straight game they were without L-Rod, but Ian and Splash should provide enough firepower. This should have been the Muhanad 20 and 10 game but I guess we’ll have to wait.

Out of all the 1-3 teams, they seem to be the most complete. They have guard play with Sohaib and size with Mo Amin and Tabty. Their schedule hasn’t been difficult as their last two losses have been by single digits. If they lose to Damascus next week, then I may have to change my tone.

Granada

It wasn’t the 37-point masterpiece of last week, but Joey still treated us to a 20-point game. Malik returned after being MIA in the last two weeks, but his jump shot still appears missing. If teams are going to continue to focus on Joey, Malik and Muhammad must be more efficient from deep if they want to capitalize on their opportunities. In week 5 they get the scorching hot Alexandria team.

I was really hoping they could put together a few wins in a row, but that was very short lived. They were out rebounded and Tripoli just hit more shots, specifically from 3. Nader continues his strong play and has the league on notice.

Congrats on the win. Gaballa seems to be a legit problem as he had a game high 19 on better than 50 percent from the field. Coach Ammar Idelbi seems to have controlled the rugrats just in time for the 2nd half of the season.

15
Medina

LAST WK: 12

For context, 100 points in a 40 min game = 2.5 points per minute. Mombasa hit 22 3’s as a team. Mo Masri had 42 while Medina scored 48 as a team. Were they missing Ed, sure, but is he making up 52 points. Heck no.

Damascus

LAST WK: 15

Still winless, but they fought hard throughout the game. At least they found someone to assist Mr. Hussein and turns out its the youngest Sehwail brother. This is not an 0-4 team and I expect a win or two in the upcoming weeks.
