Muslim Basketball's back for another exciting season! Last year we saw amazing talent week by week as the top players in the division played their hearts out trying to lead their teams to glory. These players went the extra mile for their team and without them on the court their teams would fall in shambles. The effect they have on the court can be seen through both what does and does not show up on the stat sheets; it's the little things they do that help fuel the fire of their teams. Through their leadership and great play, week in and week out, they hope to do everything in their power to elevate their teams to the next level. These aren't any ordinary players, these are MVP caliber type of players. Welcome to this week's edition of the KP MVP Ladder.

1. Omar Abbassi, Islamabad
Well here we are 8 weeks of the regular season completed and it seems like this season it’s not going to be too difficult to decipher who stands alone at top of the MVP race. It’s really 1&2,and then a handful of players who are being recognized for their good play and potential candidacy had these top two not been around. It’s not over yet but it’s definitely starting to look a lot clearer. This week Omar finished with 17 points on 60% shooting, 20 boards, 8 assists, and 3 steals. I mean come on, his numbers are something any big man would dream of achieving on a weekly basis and his efficient play and leadership have led Islamabad far this regular season. He’s averaging a career high in points, rebounds, and assists and he’s now played in over 20 seasons so this is a true vet having one of his best statistical seasons. Two weeks to go.
Last Week’s Ranking: 1

2. Raza Nassim, Mombasa
The only other candidate this season that may have a shot at beating out big O, Raza has had himself another star studded season. Mombasa didn’t even give Fez a chance to fight this past week and Raza had himself a solid game finishing with 24 points on 65% shooting, 7 boards, and 2 assists. Mombasa had 5 people in double figures; that team is another scary one and I would love to see a Mombasa v Islamabad finals but who knows how the die will roll come playoff time.
Last Week’s Ranking: 2

3. Mohamed Amin, Sana’a
No game for him this week but also no invite from the Damascus squad asking him to join them at camp. At least extend the invite guys, that’s messed up.
Last Week’s Ranking: 3

4. Jaber Jaber, Mecca
The phone rang and Jaber answered again playing the role of facilitator extremely well and helping lead Mecca to another win. Playing with 4 guys against a considerably weaker Kabul team he took advantage and had himself a great game finishing with 17 points, 16 boards, 7 blocks, 4 assists, and 3 steals. He was all over the court and helped find fellow sharpshooter Malik which helped them cruise to victory despite only having 4 guys on the court.
Last Week’s Ranking: N/A

5. Jonathon Mingo Jr., Beirut
Breaking all sorts of records as a team and individually this week, Beirut had themselves a good time this past Saturday. Yes, Palermo is pretty much the worst team in this league and they played with 4 and without a big man on the floor but Mingo and co could’ve easily played a lazy game and won with a modest box score but that’s not what happened at all. They took full advantage of their situation and made sure to punish Palermo not showing any regard for human life. Mingo finished with probably the most interesting stat line I’ve ever seen 26 points on 50% shooting, 24 boards, 16 assists, 3 steals, and a block. These are the types of games that as a team you’ll never forget, so congrats to the Beirut squad on breaking all kinds of records this weeks and etching their names into the books.
