Safad

LAST WK: 2

Safad put on an absolute show behind double-digit scoring from six players, and double-doubles from three of them. Leading the way was Musa Yanes (16pts, 13reb), Ehsan (11pts, 11reb, 6ast) and Todd (15pts, 14reb). Right now, this squad is a fine tuned motor, and I can’t see many teams beating them.

LAST WK: 1

No Gagan, Dev, or Week 4 POTW MP3 this game. Mohammad Popal did show up, and went 6-27 (1-17 from 3). Ouch. Mohamed Eladl led scoring with 15 points while Yusuf Shehata got 15 boards. A game to forget for this team. Once everyone’s back, I’m sure winning will be on the menu again.

Ramallah
1
LAST WK: 4

An absolute nail biter they almost blew, but props to Aiden MacKnight (24pts) for leading this game in points. Anas had 16 points while Mohamed Amin pitched in 12 points of his own. This game came down to the wire when Ramallah had a lead with a handful of seconds left. Once they clean up sloppy plays, then I believe they’ll be part of the top dogs.

4
Tiberias
1
LAST WK: 5

In a game which also came down to the last couple minutes, Tiberias held off a tough Haifa team behind Mahrooz’s 19 points and Ronny Sawwan’s (14pts, 11reb) offensive and defensive toughness. Tiberias still looks rough around the edges; let’s see how they play this week.

Jenin

LAST WK: 3

In an absolute blow out, there’s not many things to look up about. Omar Hussein led this team with 19 points and Aymen had 16 rebounds. But man, Safad buried them here. Jenin will need to fix whatever’s not working for them and prepare for their next game better.

Nazareth

LAST WK: 7

I gotta apologize, I didn’t know Atef Zeed (21pts) had it in him. Take a bow. Marawan looks like he’s his old double-double self now, scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. Coach Elias has created a formula that’s working for them.

7
Bethlehem
1
LAST WK: 6

Bethlehem put up a fight without key players on here this week, and almost had a last minute comeback. Like I’ve said, I really like the medium-big lineup of Kasey (19pts) and Shaharia (17pts) and I can imagine if the rest of the squad was there, they could’ve changed this L into a W.

8
Jerusalem
2
LAST WK: 10

This FA team is finding their footing right now behind the leadership of Hassan Saleh (14pts) and Khalil Barlow (8pts, 8reb). Young Karam is a bright spot on this team, 3-4 from 3 and scoring 11 points is a great day. Also worth mentioning is Haider Zaki scoring 10 points. Jerusalem is a scrappy underdog who’ll do their best to make life tough on their opponents.

9
Al-Khalil
2
LAST WK: 11

Big congrats to the boys over at Al-Khalil for winning their first game of the season! And in a blowout, no less. Behind a double-double from Elton (15pts, 10reb, 7ast). Three other teammates scoring in the double digits, too. I think if they come out this hot against other teams, they have a legit shot at moving up in the ranks.

Haifa

LAST WK: 8

Husan Zakir led Haifa with 18 points, but something just isn’t meshing well on this team. Maybe it’s the attendance and how they haven’t had a full squad. Iyaad is one of the better players in MB, and at this point, I’d like to see him take over. I know he’s capable of it.

11
Nablus
Nablus

LAST WK: 9

With no Mattias or Omar Subhani, this is the outcome everyone sort’ve expected. Leading Nablus now is Luthfi Jamal, who was on fire from 3 at one point, scoring 25 points. They just need to expand their game a bit when their main guy is out.

12
Gaza
Gaza

LAST WK: 12

Yes, every game will be this way. They’re allowing the most points in the league, and scoring the least. This season just needs to be good for this squads development. Bibo had a nice game for himself (15pts) so let’s improve from here on out.
