LAST WK: 1

In possibly the most anticipated game of the year, Yazur didn’t let down one bit. Salihoun continues to show why he’s a top five player in the league, having 21 points and 11 rebounds. Moumtaz also helped by having 17 points. Gotta give it to Mountaka, too. 6 steals and 6 assists? He’s the ultimate team player and the heart of this team. Yazur is the standard, period.

Omar, Mahrooz, and Ameer came in and played this game on easy mode, getting every rebound and scoring every time they held the ball. And when I say rebounds, they had 49 all together as a team. This upcoming week should tell us if they’re the real deal, or not.

Nazareth

LAST WK: 3

A tough loss but you can take a lot of positives out of it. Maybe I was a bit too harsh on Mana starting the year slow—he proved me wrong by going for 22 points and 12 rebounds. Moayad also added in 15 points and really helped keep this game close. There were a lot of plays where they missed open shots that could have won them the game. I think Nazareth will be fine. They came close to beating the best team in the league, and will beat anyone else.

Getting a win against one of the most talked about teams going into the season must feel good. Sean was definitely the missing piece they needed, having 21 points and going 7-14 from 3, not to mention the daggers at the end. Do not leave this man open, whatsoever. Aymen helped with his 13 points and 10 rebounds, while Omar (12pts) and Ammar (11pts, 8rbs) left their marks on the game. I think they’re slowly learning who they are as a team, which was a worry going into the season.

They were down the whole game and it was an uphill battle from the start. Iyaad is a star in the making, having 26 points. Towfeek added his own 20 points as well. Watching this game, it felt like they weren’t ready defensively. Too many blown coverages and gifting mismatches for Rafah to take advantage of. They also looked really tired most of the game, and ran out of time when the comeback started. They’ll learn from this, I know that.

It was a close game in the first half before they blew it wide open in the second. Daishon led the way with 21 points, but I have to highlight Amre for being the sniper they need. Having 15 points on 5-9 shooting beyond the arc is impressive, and he’s shaping up to be one of the best 3-point specialists in the league. Mo Amin came back to earth this game, but I can imagine when this team is firing on all cylinders, they’re going to be dangerous.

This game was an ugly one, despite Lil O having 24 points and Fursan having 21. But the rebounding problems are starting to show—they’re currently ranked 15th in the league, and there were moments even I thought they’d lose. Maybe with a full team, which they haven’t had the whole season, things might be different.

I don’t know the name of the player they added, but I know they dropped Kasey, and that may have been the right move. Gagan had a revival from the week prior, having 37 points on 54% shooting on the day. The supporting cast did their best to, well, support. I can say they have the hardest schedule remaining, and everyone is going to need to come at the top of their game week in and week out if they want to move up.

Having only four players for the majority of the game and still winning is a feat in itself. Shoutout old man Sami for having a triple-double and Kareem for throwing in 31 points. He had Qalqilya befuddled on how to guard him. Husan also contributed with having 18 of his own.  I don’t know the ceiling for this team, but like I said in the weeks before, this team is better than everyone thinks.

Congrats to this team on getting their first win and in bigger news, getting no techs. “Yes, Sheff” Doola had 20 on 7-10 shooting with Ronny helping with 15. If they lock in, especially with their lighter schedule, maybe they can win more games in the second half of the season.

Missing Omar Khan, Malik and Matthew stepped up. They made this game closer than it should’ve been. With better shot selection, they could’ve won it. I believe that.

They were undermanned and weren’t expecting Baysan to come out swinging. Ibraheem leading the scoring with 18 points on 7-18 shooting, paired with 9 boards. With Bruno and Ammar, this could’ve been a different game.

Mahmoud and Shabazz had solid games but when you get outshot and out-rebounded, you’re just not gonna win.

They put up a good fight, actually. Elton, Desar, and Usama had good games for the squad. Hopefully those good games can translate to wins soon.

Another poor shooting day from the guys, but their team hasn’t been complete for the last two weeks. Hopefully they figured it out over the break. Shooting 19% from 3 as a team is abysmal.

There’s no excuse being down going against a 4 man team for over twenty-five minutes. For that reason, they have to fall.
