No Moayad, no backup big in Sehwail and they shot below 30% from deep as a squad. But none of that seems to matter when you have Zain looking like prime Zain. 23 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 4 blocks. Can’t forget to mention Mahrooz going for 16 and 12 and playing the role of point forward. Expect Zubyyy and Omar Hussein to knock down 3s at a better clip in coming weeks, but nonetheless, good start to the season.

Only reason they aren’t at 1 is because Nablus was without their #2 and #3 picks. But boy oh boy, this team looks well equipped for another championship run. Musa picking up right where he left off, with a 30 piece and left some food on the plate for the rest of the family to eat from. Yahya with a career high of 15 and Elias had an overall stellar game as well. Nice showing from rookie Saif Abdalla, as this team currently has an embarrassment of riches.

Captain Mustafa Barakat was wheelin & dealing post draft and made some very noteworthy acquisitions. And from the early looks of it, they paid off. Deep and Zubidi played very well and Shahzaib got his, which is expected. Lowkey, this team has more fire power than I would have initial imagined so let’s see how they hold up this time next week.

I am sorry, I was not familiar with your game. 92 points is quite a feat to accomplish in a 40-minute game. A very under the radar acquisition over the weekend was Bethlehem acquiring Splash and he performed very well. Al five starters were in double figures, and it seems like there was more than enough basketballs for this team.

Khan Yunis

LAST WK: 5

Elhindi was easily the steal of the draft. Unpopular opinion: He only played in 5 games last season, so I am going to consider him a rookie. He led the way with 30 points on 8-13 from deep. And can we not talk about the return of one, Mr. Shiiiiiiiiieeeeeeeessssstyyyyy. Joe Cool with a smooth 16, 9 and 9. And s/o to Amir XXL tee Chaarkas with the game saving block. Khan Yunis is looking elite.

Woah woah woah. Raza going for 20 with a team not named Mombasa?!?!!? Good stuff. Mahdy Suleiman scoring 19 points is no surprise, but it was nice to see him dish out 4 assists as well. 2nd round pick Ahmad Chaabane with a quiet game but again its only week 1, so I expect the little rugrat to play better the rest of the way.

No Anas Zubi, but this team looks promising. Khalied was a force down low. Jehad Mustafa is still a bucket, and the two rookies did show some flashes, despite the erratic play and shot selection. I think once Anas returns and performs at the level, he is capable of, him and Jehad, along with Khalied downlow, will be a heck of a BIG 3.

Their two best shooters combined to go 2-19 from deep, and they somehow only lost by two. As mentioned previously, Al-Quds was without Moayad and Ahmad Sehwail but Safad did not their shots. Need more out of their backcourt as well as from Koyas. Deeb did his job and I expect that to be the theme moving forward.

The box score doesn’t tell the whole tale, actually, yes it does. They committed 19 team fouls. They lost the rebounding, FT and TO battles. Aadil taking 6 shots is very underwhelming and same goes for Medo, who is supposed to be this team’s main floor general.

Al-Bireh

This just in: Burooj Al Mana is officially the tallest skyscraper in all the land. Jokes aside, 23 rebounds is absurd. Some players don’t grab 23 boards in a season. But unfortunately for this team and what Towfeek highlighted in the pod, this team’s lack of shooting did come back to haunt them.

No Jojo, No Khaled Sehwail and no Hosam. Ali Hassan did all he good have possibly done in this one with 30 points on 12-28 overall but one man won’t be the Yanes family.

Al-Balah

Okay, okay. They were missing arguably a top 5 player in the league in Hassan Chaabane as well as star guard Omar Singer. Its week one, so need to panic but this team will certainly need their star backcourt to be present.
