Salaam MB Players,

The health and welfare of our players is our top priority. Muslim Basketball is closely monitoring the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) as it continues to spread across the country. Based on the latest information, as set forth below, Muslim Basketball is tracking and implementing protocols and recommendations by the CDC, as well as other proactive and precautionary measures to ensure the well-being of our league.

A. Personal travel disclosure requirements
  • Reporting Requirement: If you have recently traveled to or connected through any of the from countries identified by the State Department and/or the CDC as significantly impacted by COVID-19 (China, South Korea, Iran, and Italy), plan to travel or connect through any of these locations, or have come in close contact with somebody who has a confirmed case of the disease, we are requiring that you disclose this information with Muslim Basketball. You may do so by emailing us directly, or having your captain email us at Director@MuslimBasketball.org.
  • Playing Restriction: If you have traveled to any of these sites, or have come in contact with an infected person, do not appear to any Muslim Basketball function. You must provide medical clearance from your doctor to Director@MuslimBasketball.org before returning to play.

B. Sanitization Requirements:
  • Required Pre-game Sanitization: Players will be required to sanitize thoroughly prior to entering the game. However, it is recommended that players regularly wash their hands with soap and water before, after, and during games, as opposed to relying on hand sanitizers.
We will be sanitizing game balls regularly through the night, and providing hand sanitizer on each court.
Players are recommended to avoid any direct contact with the face or head area, especially until hands have been washed with soap and water.

C. Limitations on Guests, Handshakes and Interactions:
  • Non-Active Player / Guest Attendance: While not restricted, we ask that players not bring guests to their games to limit unnecessary interactions. Players eliminated from the playoffs (Currently or in future rounds) should avoid appearing at MB games.
Handshakes: For the remainder of the season, players will be asked to display sportsmanship in ways other than shaking hands, high-fiving, and fist-bumping, and rather rely on verbal means only.
Time and Interaction Limitations: Players are advised to limit the amount of time they spend at the gym before and after games, and to limit the number of interactions they have where not necessary (e.g., with players who they are not playing with or against, etc.)
Players should maintain cough distance, and cover coughs and sneezes with disposable tissues or clothing, and immediately sanitize.

These protocols are being put into place proactively to safeguard the health and safety of our league. As the situation evolves, so will our protocols. Thank you for your cooperation. We pray for the continued health of all our players and their families. Please feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns.

JazakAllah Khair,

Muslim Basketball Directors
