D1 Preview Teams in alphabetical orderCairoCaptain: Waleed Gabr Cairo has a strong core of legit scorers with Khalied, Andre, and Victor. Dan Jones and Raied both make their return to MB and look to be playing as strong as they have left. The team is fast and athletic. Their guard play and offense will be there game in and game out, but what will their defense bring? CordobaCaptain: Kevin Barton Kevin and crew are looking to avenge their loss in last season’s championship. They lost a key player in Phil but fill that void with great talent. Arjun is back and brings the 3 point threat along with a big body. Delvon, FSU’s all-time assists leader, makes his premier in MB, so expect him to be a great player to watch and learn from. Cordoba has size, talent, and chemistry. Expect them to play just as well as they had last season. KabulCaptain: Wali Shahsamand Two former teams combine to make one solid team. Mujtaba has been one of MB’s best players every season. Tariq is one of MB’s most improved players each season. Faraz is a MB legend. Round them out with the hustle and big plays of Brandon and Brandon, and you have one dangerous team. MeccaCaptain: Fernando Serna The defending champs. They return last season’s MVP, Mo Abdelhadi, and add key acquisitions: John, Rudy, and Marquis. The solid guard play of Danny and Fernando, along with their anchor Matt, led this team to a championship. This team has been playing together in the off season and racking up championships, so expect them to be ready to defend their title. MedinaCaptain: Omar Abbassi Veterans of the game and an all-around solid team. Omar and Rajab grab every rebound in their path like Duncan and Robinson. Afay, Anwar, Kevan, and Moose are all guards that would be starters on any team. They can shoot and they can handle the ball. Kevan came in to MB last season and made a name for himself as one of the top guards. This team was 6-4 last season. All 4 losses were by 2 points or less! Awesome preview!  Sarajevo is indeed full of new guys but the captain does know what talent is in D1. It'll be interesting to see how they fare this season. Definitely looking forward to seeing how these teams match up head to head. Tons of talent everywhere. |
