Whats the most effective way to treat a strained quad, is it cold and hot cycling - 20 on and 20 off? |

omar i did something to my quad in a game last year .. it lasted a solid 3-4 weeks .. the only thing that really helped it was wrapping it tight daily .. i had it wrapped at all times except when sleeping .. i iced it occasionally to numb the pain .. it was completely black and blue .. i read up a lot on it .. consensus was to stay off it as much as possible
i tried to play in a game about two weeks after i hurt it and as soon as i pushed to run, it hurt real bad ..
i probably had something worse than a strain thou
BOTTOM LINE .. DONT USE THIS AS AN EXCUSE NOT TO PLAY ME ON SUNDAY !! LOL

Soak in a ice bath/cold tub/cold pool as often as possible till there's no swelling and it's not tender. Or make a ice cup and rub your thigh (cup of water, freeze it and then rub) once u do that for like 2 days start cold/heat cycling and stretch to get your range of motion back and wrap it

Thanks guys. Its not black and blue. And I have plenty of oxycodin left over from surgery - so i'll take a few to numb the pain before game time - no way im sitting out. Then I get a nice 2-week break to fully recover.
