Assalamualaikum All, Im writing this email as an urgent appeal to you all – please read on. InshaAllah I am currently planning to go to Gaza next week to hand out supplies to the people there as part of an initiative led by MP George Galloway. As you all know, an assault by Israel left Gaza completely destroyed earlier this year, flattening 61,000 homes while killing and injuring thousands in only 21 days. Three of my first cousins, may Allah swt bestow His mercy and grace upon them, were among those killed in this wave of terror. This on top of an already depressed economy with over 80% of the population living under the poverty level, with no access to critical supplies, aid, food, medication, etc from outside. This is because all the borders are completely locked and have been so for many months, meaning that almost all of those left injured and homeless are still suffering to this very day. But due to the international attention that George Galloway brings, he was able to deliver 100 trucks of supplies earlier this year all the way from England to Gaza by car – it took him and the caravan 23 days, traveling by day and sleeping in their cars by night to arrive in Gaza. InshaAllah there is an even larger caravan of 500 trucks scheduled to bring another shipment of life supplies to the region next week. I would like the people on this list to help me in donating one truck’s worth of supplies which costs approximately $16,000. I am hoping that everyone can stretch themselves to donate $500 or $1000, but if you cannot do that, than any amount will more than help – I have collected over $3000 just yesterday but still have a long way to go. This counts as Zakat al Mal and as we all know, not only is the reward tremendous for helping out the sick, needy, and orphans, there is also a 100% guarantee of increasing back to you whatever you give: "None of you believes until they love for their brother what they love for themselves."Allah Most High tells us in the Qur'an: 057.018 Lo! those who give alms, both men and women, and lend unto Allah a goodly loan, it will be doubled for them, and theirs will be a rich reward. I hope to be amongst those literally handing out the supplies and will make every effort to assure that the supplies that your money purchases are delivered to those who need it. If you cannot send the check by this Friday, and we cannot meet in person, tell me how much it is and I will add it to my own check and you can just mail/give me the money later.
